2008/2009 Activities

Board Activity

The Board of Dirrectors of the Australian Chapter of the AOC has spent a substantial amount of time reviewing the operation of the Association in Australia including the performance of the Board. As members will be aware, the Board rewrote the constitution of the association in preparation for Incorporation. Incorporation provides two main benefits, liability protection for the directors and accountsbility of the directors and the board to the association as well as ensuring more rigid governance. As part of these activities, the board defined the following standing (or sub) committees to improve the day to day running of the association:

  • Events
  • Convention
  • Membership
  • Communication (Including Professional Development)
  • Audit

Attendance at 2009 Defence and Industry Conference

Thanks to Defence SA for hosting us on one of their pod stands. The event was highly successful for the Chapter with many contacts made and several hundred 2010 conference flyers and membership application forms distributed.

2009 Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting was held on the 15th of April 2009. A highly enjoyable night was had by all. The 2009 Australian Chapter Awards were presented. See the 2009 Awards page for detailed information.

Passing of Two Friends

Sadly, 2009 has seen the passing of two very dear friends and long serving members of the association, Nigel Johnson and Simon Rockliff. Both have been key players in the development of EW capability in Australia and will be sorely missed.

2008 Convention

The 2008 convention was very successful with a full program of technical speakers in three streams for the first time. Many thanks to the sponsors, exhibitors and delegates for your continued support and thanks to the board and organising group for all your work.
